Before TK could reply to this latest seemingly-insane tirade - and what was insane anymore, really? Was TK herself? After all, she'd been kidnapped by snowmen and carted off to an underground ice-temple...where what looked like a reject from a Christmas special was floating her in the air while the tiger-girl was tied up with ice! "Insane" had to have a different criteria tonight, it seemed to TK... - the woman made a series of gentle, smooth swirling motions with her hands, and TK felt herself go from floating vertically in the air to a horizontal position, as if being cradled in great, invisible arms. And then, with another gentle "pushing" motion, the tigress began to float back toward that altar, raised as if to be placed upon it...
TK stared at the clothcovered, glassy surface with wide eyes, her heart quickening in her chest, as she began to struggle fiercely once more. And she was still struggling when her widened eyes snapped over to the frost-woman again, as the villainess spoke. TK roared a muffled roar of denial and defiance, but the cool, regal woman paid it no mind.
"As you can tell, little one, I am a mistress of all things cold and frozen. The ice, the snow...even the chill in the air, all do my bidding. But, you see, my power doesn't just come to me...it has a wellspring... And there are certain...rites...which must be observed to keep that wellspring abundant and flowing. Once each year, I must drain the spirit of a brave and strong heart into my altar. To prove the dominance and dominion of the cold and death over things of warmth and light. Which is the true and natural state of things, regardless of whether those such as I make the demonstration plain or not. But," she sighed, with a long-suffering weariness she barely felt, "Ritualistic observances must be made, and symbolism plays such a potent role in matters eldritch... And so here you are. You, my dear, are to be this year's guest for the ceremony...your heart will fill my altar and stand as an example of the weakness of will and warmth..."
TK's muffled roar of outrage, defiance...and horror...rang back from the frosty ice walls like thunder...
