'Rude Awakening' - part 14

"Oh, for cryin' out loud..." the shorter villain growled, lurching around and back into the van's cargo area. Bryn's efforts to undo Cody's wrist-strap became fevered, but the man was there in only one long stride, angrily dragging the young man away from his still-struggling sister. She grunted in anger and worry, but if the villainous miscreant even noticed, he gave no sign.

He shoved Bryn over toward his stomach, and snagged up one of the plastic wire-ties, zipping it tight around his thumbs. The captive catboy's ears flicked back and he winced in discomfort at the sudden pressure, his already-awkward hands twisted into an even more uncomfortable position now. Then the thug returned Bryn to his back, and glared down, snarling, "That should take care of those clever fingers'a yours..."

Ripping the cleaving strip from between Bryn's jaws, the kidnapper next snatched up the thusfar-unused roll of duct tape and tore off a long strip. Before Bryn could make good on his immediate efforts to spit out the mouth-stuffing rag, his assailant pressed the tape across his mouth, sealing it firmly. Then, for good measure, he pulled off another piece and slapped it across Bryn's eyes, making sure to mash it none-too-gently into place.

Grabbing his young victim up by the shoulders, the man shoved Bryn hard against the wall once more, waving a warning finger before his tape-blinded face. "And if ya pull a stunt like that again, there's a third piece waitin' to go over your nose. Got it?" Bryn's only reply was a low, dangerous growl, rolling angrily in the back of his throat. The villain seemed unimpressed.

He pivoted back around on the balls of his feet, anger plain beneath the dark sheen of his still-worn stocking mask. "And you, little missy..." He advanced toward Cody ominously, hands reaching out like claws, heedless of the furious grunt which Bryn blindly shot at the threat being leveled against his nigh-defenseless sister...
